I'm Andrew, the developer of SiteQuest. I built this app because I wanted a better way to find campsites, not a way to spy on people. I value your privacy because I value my own.
1. The "Golden Rule" of Your Location
Your real-time location is never uploaded, tracked, or sold. SiteQuest uses your device's GPS locally to show your position on the map and help you scout.
Precise Location (collected via ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) is only stored when you explicitly save a campsite.
2. Data Accessed, Collected & Usage
- Precise Location (GPS): Accessed via ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION permission. Used to show your position on the map, scout campsites, and log the coordinates of sites you save. Your real-time location is never uploaded or tracked; only the coordinates you explicitly save are stored in the database.
- Email Address: Used for account creation, login, and syncing your scouts across devices via Supabase. Not shared or sold.
- User Content: Campsite logs, notes, ratings, hammock suitability, Starlink/cell signal, levelness, and any other details you intentionally save. Stored securely and only accessible to you unless you choose to share.
- Device Sensors: Gyroscope/accelerometer data is accessed to check if a site is level. Sensor readings are only used locally and saved as a simple "level/not level" flag when you log a site. No raw sensor data is uploaded.
- App Usage Data: Anonymous crash logs and error reports are collected to fix bugs and improve stability. No personal or sensitive data is included.
- Health Data: SiteQuest does NOT access, collect, or use any health data. No health or fitness information is requested, stored, or processed. If this changes, the policy will be updated and users notified.
- Payment Data: If you upgrade to Pro, purchases are processed securely via RevenueCat and Google Play/App Store. SiteQuest does not store payment details.
- Permissions Used: ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION (location), FOREGROUND_SERVICE (background tasks), device sensors (gyroscope/accelerometer), internet (for syncing and maps).
3. Third-Party Services
I use Supabase for secure storage and authentication, and Google Maps for map data. They may see your IP to serve the content, but they don't get access to your private SiteQuest data.
4. Data Deletion
It's your data. You can delete your account and all associated campsite logs instantly using the "Delete Account" button in the app settings.
Alternatively, you can request manual deletion or a copy of your data by emailing ARinwalske@gmail.com. Please use the email address associated with your account. All data will be wiped from the database within 48 hours of your request.
For web-based data deletion requests, you can also visit: https://sitequest.me/privacy (this page).
5. NO DATA SOLD
I will never sell your data to advertisers, insurance companies, or anyone else. I'm a software engineer, not a data broker.
